I met the robin again this morning on the same stretch of towpath fence.

The light was low and flat, the canal barely moving.
He followed me for twenty metres, hopping ahead, stopping, turning his head.

This is one of those winter birds that feels less like wildlife and more like a conversation partner.

I didn’t linger.
I took two photos, then stepped back and let him reclaim the fence.
